Financial Assistance and Community Resources

There may be seasons in life where you find yourself in urgent need of financial assistance. Maybe you’ve had an emergency and have unexpected medical bills or have lost a job and are struggling to pay your utility bills or your mortgage. In order to assist you during those times, we offer some benevolence services to our members. For non-members, we partner with local agencies to assist in life-needs.

2-1-1 Help Referral Service

2-1-1 operators offer to help you find resources for a variety of needs, including food, housing, clothing, paying bills and other needs. Residents can get connected with resources in our community anytime through Virginia 2-1-1 by:

Child Care Services

If you are parent or family member who is in the essential workforce and in need child care, you can go online to complete this form with your child care needs or call 2-1-1 for help.

Housing Assistance

If you need help paying housing bills or other essential services, call 2-1-1. Additionally, check with your mortgage companies as some are offering mortgage assistance and relief options to those impacted by COVID-19. These local organizations may also be able to help:

CommonHelp: Virginia’s convenient way to apply for healthcare coverage, food assistance, childcare, heating/cooling assistance, and cash assistance.

Cover Virginia: Learn about Virginia’s Medicaid and FAMIS programs for children, pregnant women and adults. You can also get information about health insurance options available through the Federal Marketplace.

Infant & Toddler Connection of Virginia: Provides early intervention support and service to children from birth to age 2 who are not developing as expected or have a medical condition that can delay normal development. SEARCH: “Infant/Toddler” to find a program near you on their website.

Virginia Mortgage Relief Program: The program provides assistance to homeowners experiencing delinquency due to a financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 to help address mortgage or other qualified home ownership-related delinquencies to avoid default, foreclosure, or displacement. Financial hardship could include an increase in living expenses, childcare, change in household size, job loss or reduction in income, etc.
